In late 2009, the United States Army had an urgent need to support a large number of additional troops for deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan. The urgency of the surge required expedited delivery of shelters and support accessories to setup quickly and successfully operate in a harsh desert environment.

Solution

CAMSS Shelters responded with a combination of inventory and manufacturing to provide the required CAMSS 20Q Small Shelter Systems and support accessories to house 1,800 troops in less than 30 days. The CAMSS20Q shelters, along with power distribution systems, Environmental Control Units (ECUs), vestibules, hard flooring, electrical and lighting all shipped by air on standard 463L pallets.

Success

The simple and fast assembly of the CAMSS 20Q Small Shelters combined with the plug and play power distribution system made for a fast installation. The ruggedized ECUs in conjunction with the shelter's Extreme Temperature Kits provided cool and comfortable billeting. The CAMSS 20Q shelters provided years of service in Afghanistan.
